christmas story soap scene

A visit to the Christmas pantomime is a tradition of long standing. Children and adults alike love this peculiar British way to celebrate the holiday season. When more you take the kids to see a woman playing a man, a man playing a woman and the most blatantly false animal ever seen on a stage?

There are several elements to be included in a traditional Panto, the show must be based on a popular fairy tale, there should be singing and dancing, topical jokes and as the old chestnuts, double meaning shame, many public participation; characters of family values should appear, and of course there must be a scene from transformation where the put-on hero or heroine finally gets his fate.

The pantomime word originally meant to the person making a spectacle mute – a play without words that today we would call a mime. Later he began to refer to the show itself. The shape of the modern pantomime is the thinking that is based on the Italian Commedia dell'arte, a humorous work that combines music, acrobatics and clowning and include familiar characters, stories and jokes of values current.

In the 19th century the trend of issuing a well-known actor in the pantomime began at the Theater Royal, Drury Lane, and continues to this day. You can be lucky enough to see a great performance from a legend of comedy, but today the roles are more likely to go to soap stars, ex-members Short pop bands and reality TV survivors.

So why we love? Firstly there is little in the theater than any the family can enjoy together. Secondly, it is all so familiar, you know the stories and characters, is just like putting the Christmas tree decoration use each year, a ritual to remember the long term. Ultimately, however, is its irresistible charm total. But down it feels like going to the theater, can not stop complaining about the terrible jokes, but you can not join 'behind', and can not stop singing along with everyone else in the final.

Most important is the best way to introduce children to the magic of live theater. There's nothing like the thrill of a live performance, with its unpredictability, its voltage and especially of its atmosphere. The pantomime is the perfect way for your children to experience that magic.
