+ Patrick Suskind (* 26 March 1949 in Ambach, Starnberger See), studied history in Munich and Aix-en-Provence, lives in Munich, Seeheim (Starnberger See) and Montolieu, France (with his partner Tanja Graf and his son). His father, Wilhelm Emanuel was a writer, translator and journalist newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung (one of five major German newspapers), his older brother, Martin E. Suskind is a journalist too. Suskind is a descendant of world famous Bible exegete Johann Albrecht Bengel and reformer Johannes Brenz. His most famous work is The Perfume – the Story of a Murderer (1985), which has been translated into 46 languages and sold 15 million copies, now filmed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) – producer paid around 10 million euros for the rights and story development. Was co-author of the mini series Monaco Franze (1982) and Kir Royal (1986) and co-.wrote films Rossini (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120037/) and Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe: (http://www.imdb. com/title/tt0383041 /). (I have to admit that I think both the TV series and movies horrible!). His work The Bass (1981) monolgue stroker is a one and more than 500 performances played in the 1984/85 season was the most performed works in the German-speaking theaters. It is still part of the repertoires many German and international theaters. Full Süskind refuses to be part of the literary public business. Rarely gives interviews, does not appear in public and has refused to accept several awards including the award in 1987 and Turk and the FAZ (another major newspaper) literature prize (1987). He did not appear at the premiere of the movie Perfume. It is said that "author shy in Rossini is a reflection of self irony of his own person: The author refuses to have his book made into a film, but has been offered a large sum of money. The "producer" is said to be an image close to the actual producer Bernd Eichinger's film, which at that time still could not convince Süskind of sell the movie rights to his book to him. There are hardly any photos of Süskind available despite having a small role in Monaco Franze. Works: Der Bass, 1981 Das Parfum, Die Taube 1985, 1987 Die Geschichte von Herrn Sommer, 1991 (History of Mr Sommer) Drei Geschichten, 2005 (three stories and consideration One) Über Liebe und Tod 2005 (On Love and Death) Screenplay: Der ganz normale Wahnsinn 1980 with Helmut Dietl (quite ordinary madness) Monaco Franze, 1982, with Helmut Dietl Kir Royal, 1986, with Helmut Dietl Rossini – mörderische oder die Frage, wer Schlief MEM MIT, 1997, with Helmut Dietl Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe, 2005, with Helmut Dietl The man definitely is "difficult to achieve." Some facts about the history of the book: # http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/18th_century http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_history Early_Modern_France http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean- In Jacques_Rousseau the book there are some allusions to Rabelais' Gargantua et Pantagruel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gargantua) and of course the story of Kaspar Hauser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaspar_Hauser)
