This has certainly been a long season of autumn. Usually most shows the time to enter their first winter hiatus the week after Thanksgiving. This year, however, many shows are ending a contract that began more than a year ago.
Many people are upset by the cancellations of Eli Stone, Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money on ABC. While these programs are undoubtedly smart and entertaining (quite better than reality shows that it could replace them), it is important to remember that many shows that started last year were arrested for an entire season. A full season means that a program is guaranteed to have at least 20-30 weeks of airtime. When the writers strike lasted as long as it did, the producer of many television chose not to show his shows remaining episodes during the summer (when there was very likely to watch television and decreases dramatically during the months summer) and, instead, the air in the autumn of this year.
It is appalling that intelligent television and thus removed as quickly. My Own Worst Enemy has reached the ax on NBC and has Lipstick Jungle. Ironically, Knight Rider has not been canceled and that show is so horrible that you can not force people to see!
So what looks like the landscape of Hollywood and for us TV viewers after the winter break?
Hollywood has promised to be a good replacement for a few show the reality of the programs that are ending their tour of the first season and not be collected. Winter is famous by mid-season testing of replacement, and this year is no different. But first let's take a look at Hollywood shows is back: Lost calls into operation in January as Scrubs (airing now on ABC). Obviously American Idol again, like 24.

Remember that there is always a good idea to get attached to midseason replacement show in Hollywood. Gray's Anatomy certainly managed to hit the big time like some others, but it is rare for a midseason replacement is always able to find the audience you need. The winter and spring television stations are also sleeping time for mini-series and special reports.
Television has become a volatile business (actually, Knight Rider how to survive the court pause) and it is important to remember that reality television can become today's high-concept theater tomorrow. Of course, the reverse could happen. There must be a reason which was broadcast Deal or No Deal so many nights a week in 2006!
